The artist

Ruslan Bolgov was born in 1974 in Klaipeda, Lithuania, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. His earliest photographs were taken as a teenager, but he didn’t take the experience very far at the time. It wasn’t until the end of his studies in economics and finance that he seriously applied himself. He bought a full-frame camera, whose image sensor was the same size as the sensor of an analog camera and started to take pictures of landscapes. He developed a taste for it and tried his hand at portraits of women with some success. Although he has kept his job as an executive in the port industry, photography started to gain increasing importance in his life and he now appears among the international Who’s Who of the Photographic Society of America (PSA). He affirms that he works hard on his photos in postproduction and likes to let himself be taken by surprise: “sometimes the final result is very different from the initial idea that I had in mind at the time of the shoot,” he explains. He is approachable and seeks inspiration from other photographers via the websites 35photo.pro or 1x.com, while also hosting a blog on Steemit, an alternative social network where each member is rewarded for their publications.  ... Encore plus qu’un passe-temps, la photographie occupe une grande partie de ma vie et reflète mon point de vue sur la beauté du monde, en commençant par les paysages et en finissant par les femmes

RUSLAN BOLGOV

About the artwork

To sublimate the female body, Ruslan Bolgov uses humour by placing two glasses on his model’s chest or playing on geometric shapes: “I wanted to try to bring together opposing elements within a single photo: the very rigid aspect of a cube and the curves of the female body,” he explains. “Then I gave it an artistic touch by playing on blacks and whites, on the background, and by adding a mask to complexify the interpretation.” The resulting photos are at once erotic and intriguing.
