About the artwork

On an isolated island in Indonesia, strange trees gathered in “families” grow in the middle of the water. They are mangroves: small tropical trees that grow in salt water. Their strange shapes caught the eye of Malaysian photographer Jefflin and inspired this series of enchanting photos. A fan of black and white and long exposures, he fills his images with magic.

The artist

Born in the hectic city of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Jefflin is a master of black-and-white photography with long exposure times. After university studies in business management at a British university in Malaysia, he studied photography for a year at the Adam Photography Academy under Adam Tan, the winner of the 2013 International National Geographic competition. Since his first productions in 2012, Jefflin has developed a personal corpus dedicated to landscapes devoid of any human presence. His minimalist artworks have been exhibited in the Ukraine and the United States. Since 2014, the photographer has won several awards at international photo contests, notably at the Prix de la Photographie de Paris (Px3), the Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA), and the International Photography Awards (IPA).  ...
