About the artwork

Since childhood is evocative of personal memories for all of us, its representations are often linked to a memory that is still present and to poetic and nostalgic projections. An unrivalled magician, Mina Mimbu freezes time to document and narrate the fascinating world that children grow up in. Subtle, magical, sometimes serious, her photographic work flirts with the borders of reality and leads the spectator into some incredible landscapes. In her creations, children serve as go-betweens on this journey. The excitement, wonder, and freedom that they demonstrate while exploring and discovering something new is almost palpable. Mina Mimbu's images are a poetic invitation to dream, in which emotions and dimensions shift. Cotton Candy seems to plunge us into the wonderful world of Alice in Wonderland, where clouds are cotton candy that we never tire of devouring with our eyes.
