Born in 1974 at the Roche-sur-Yon in the Vendée region, Gio Gaïmar grew up in Paris. The nature photography to which he devotes himself has always been a soothing influence and allows him to document his travels. A self-taught photographer, he roams European gardens from season to season and simply captures the beauty of the landscapes he finds there. This ode to nature, which seems almost pictorial, springs to life before the photographer’s lens and is reminiscent of the unique canvases of Le Douanier Rousseau. Although he never left Paris, the latter gave true depth to an exotic world in his “jungle” paintings, fantastical visions caught between dream and reality, based on illustrated books and strolls in the botanical gardens of the capital.
