AKIF HAKAN CELEBI
First attracted by the world of television, Akif Hakan Celebi studied video production at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in Florida. By turns a television producer and short-filmmaker, editor-in-chief or cameraman, he progressively created ties between the fields of art and media before definitively devoting his time to photography in 2004. Influenced by Asian directors, this American born in Istanbul composes cinematographic images whose expressionistic, colourful, and sensual settings sublimate women from Turkey to China. Nominated in 2006 by Max Magazine as one of the ten most promising photographers, he was also a finalist at the International Color Awards the same year. When he is not exhibiting across the globe, Akif Hakan Celebi collaborates with the most prestigious fashion magazines including New York Harper's Bazaar . It was in 2011 that the American Photo Magazine lauded his talent by awarding him Picture of the Year for the photograph entitled Desert Freaks of Noah Purifoy.
