Thorsten Bartelt was born in Berlin in 1961. He lives and works with his family in Berlin-Hermsdorf, one of the eleven neighbourhoods of the Reinickendorf borough in the German capital. But while he was leading a peaceful life, without fuss, he got an idea into his head that he couldn’t shake. In his view, the beauty around us is too often neglected, and the little wonders of everyday life are ignored. So he decided to act, to offer the world the opportunity to linger and appreciate them, if only for a fraction of a second. Inspired by the colours and passion of impressionist artworks as much as by the expressive sweeps of modern painting, Thorsten Bartelt develops his creative abilities and finds joy in photography. His goal? To reveal what cannot be seen with the naked eye. The result, both aesthetically pleasing and refreshing, bears the gift of surprise and offers to those who pay attention all the space required to let their mind wander.
