American photographer Euan Rannachan was born and raised outside of the United States, notably in London, due to his father’s professional obligations. But it was his mother, a professional artist, who passed on her passion for art. When he returned to the USA for his studies, Euan Rannachan chose the San Francisco Academy of Art College, where he undertook traditional training – traditions that he would unendingly pick apart in his subsequent artistic activity. He chose photography and launched his professional career in 2003 with a very broad approach: “I photograph anything from NASCAR car racing to big wave surfing, family portraits, or weddings,” he explains. Nowadays, he works for various companies as a photographer or artistic director. Fascinated by sharks since childhood, he regularly plunges inside a shark cage off the coast of Guadalupe Island in Mexico, to take photographs and attest to the power of this ultimate predator.
