Born in Philadelphia, Renée Jacobs is an eminent photographer of female nudes. Atypical is the adjective that admirably describes the career of the American artist, who was once a civil and constitutional rights lawyer in the United States, before becoming an erotic photographer in 2006. She fulfilled her childhood dream through this conversion and was swiftly rewarded, with the International Photography Prize (IPA) in 2008. While starting out as a photojournalist for The New York Times and Philadelphia Inquirer, her photographs entered the collections of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Since then, Renée Jacobs has made women her subject of predilection. Several books pay tribute to her work and particularly the series Werkdruck in 2012 and Mes petites femmes de Paris in 2013. Her photographs have been published in numerous specialised magazines (Nude Magazine, Fine Art Photo, Focus, Photoicon) and belong to the Taschen anthology The Mammoth Book of New Erotic Photography.
