Why photography ?
To escape a boring life working in water engineering! I was a creaWve person trapped in an uncreaWve
job. I thought that music creaWon would save me and it did. I became a guitar teacher, but it was
photography that truly set me free. Being paid for creaWve thinking is an absolute privilege.
Your inspiration ?
Although it sounds bizarre, but most of my inspiraWon comes from observing successful people in all
forms - music, art, business, media and more. I am inspired by those who have struggled, those from
humble beginnings and those who take arWsWc risks with their work.
What is unique in your photographs ?
I have an absolute obsession with composiWon and framing. I find it very difficult to walk away from a
moment unless the composiWon and Wming are as perfect as I can possibly achieve. I also strive to
ensure that the moment is at the heart of the photograph.
The context of creation of your new series
They are a representaWon of photography, not the post processing. I want to viewer to enjoy
photographic moments as pure as I can create them.
The latest prizes / awards / prides you got ?
I was given a Fellowship to the Royal Photographic Society in 2019 - I don’t enter compeWWons any
more as I never seem to get anywhere and it’s a serious expense
Your next projects ?
I am travelling back to the USA for the first Wme in 7 years to conWnue shooWng wonderful alien
landscapes. Other than trying to reboot my workshop business as the pandemic has now subsided
Your moro ?
Look around and what everyone else is doing, and don’t do that!
Any crush on a YK picture ?
I love the series by Helene Havard. I would love some of these on my walls at home
