A photographer and engineer, Omar Ghrayeb seeks to "capture moments to transform them into works of art" and cannot remember a time in his life "without photography". In 2020, he bought a drone and trained himself to pilot it in order to do aerial photography. His art tends towards abstraction: "I like it when the viewer has to think for a few seconds before understanding what they are looking at", he says. In fact, he won the gold medal at the aerial photography competition organised by the Slovenian magazine Digitalna Kamera. Based in Miami, Florida until 2020, he has since moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is making the most of the four seasons of the year to photograph the same places at different times. This approach earned him first place in the Nature category of the International Photography Awards in 2021.
