ALEXANDRE CORIC

BIOGRAPHY

An “artivist”, or the contraction of “artist” and “activist”: this is how photographer Alexandre Coric defines himself. He affirms a humanist and politically committed approach to photography, with an admiration for people like the activist-scientist Albert Jacquard. Highly influenced by JR and his project InsideOut, for which he became an ambassador, he also singles out social photographer Jean-Louis Courtinat among his inspirations. After a dozen years as an executive in the automotive industry, he followed his wife on her transfer to Amsterdam, and now takes care of his daughter (“CEO of the Coric Group in charge of Project Zoé” he writes on this LinkedIn profile!). So he started practising photography, training at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York, and eventually launched his career as a freelancer. Today, he notably works for the NGO Trellis Arch (to whom he donates the proceeds of his YellowKorner rights) and for a musical gallery in Amsterdam. On each photo, he includes a header featuring a quote from Antoine de Saint-Exupéry that he has made his motto: “We only see clearly with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye.”  ...
