Der Künstler

Born in 1971 in the Netherlands, French photographer Martial Lenoir now lives in Paris. A fashion photographer, he is also a great nude portraitist and regularly works with lingerie houses. He discovered photography at thirty, "by chance", and thus bought his first camera, a Mamiya RB67, which he continues to use. Graduating in 2003 from the École Supérieure de Photographie et d'Audiovisuel (EFET), he soon became an assistant at Studio Daguerre to major fashion and still life photographers such as Nacer Messili, Gérard Harten and Francis Hammond. Martial Lenoir has won numerous awards, including that of the Festival Européen de la Photo de Nu in Arles, in 2009, and the Prix Argentique Ilford in 2011. His erotic stagings have been sold at Drouot and are regularly shown in Paris, Arles, Saint-Étienne, Bayonne, and Tokyo. The artist distinguished himself through two magnificent series, "The Rat Hole" and "Reflections of Chaos", with certain images from these entering the YellowKorner collections.  ... Rund ums Werk

Intimately connected to the great North American cities, the photographer Vincent Garnier has already devoted several series to them, taken both day and night, and accentuating the incessant energy of their activities. He has now focusing on Paris, the effervescent capital, like its neighbours across the Atlantic, although he is no longer concentrating on the flow of passers-by, the incessant movement of traffic, or the low rumbling of the inner city, but instead on the beauty of its architectural landscape. In the photographer?s words, this new vision of the French capital is dehumanised, making it appear like a giant building game that you contemplate from above, like a puzzle, model, or paper-mâché decor. Vincent Garnier is interested in the various urban styles that reflect each period of Parisian history: the Haussmannian buildings rub shoulders with the architectural feats of the World Fair, such as the Eiffel Tower or the skyscrapers in the business district of La Défense.

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...

THIBAUD POIRIER

Born to expatriate parents, Thibaud Poirier spent his childhood in many cities around the globe, but out of Houston, Montreal, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo, it was the latter that has influenced him the most: “I discovered architecture there, in particular by Tadao Ando, and it became...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...
