Details zum Werk
Born in 1978 in Switzerland, Grégoire Cachemaille moved to Berlin in 2006. His interest in photography grew out of this journey eastwards. He got into the habit of losing himself in the German capital and wandering around the many deserted spaces of the urban landscape, absorbing the distinctive layers of the city’s recent history. His passion for forgotten sites took shape after spending a whole day exploring a former Soviet military complex on the outskirts of the city. Since that experience, he has captured the strange but magnetic beauty of abandoned sites all over the world. Independently of his exhibitions in Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, and Switzerland, his photographs have won awards on several occasions, particularly at the International Exhibition Award, RomArt (2017), l’International Photography Award IPA (2016, 2015), and the Moscow International Foto Awards (2015). ...
