Driven by values of cultural cooperation and exchange in connection with the scientific field, the association Chasseurs de Nuits presents the nighttime through various media, notably including photography. In 2014, Franck Séguin, director of the association and former editor-in-chief of the Ciel & Espace magazine, created the Photo Nightscape Awards (PNA), an international photography prize for nocturnal landscapes, exhibited each year in France. The creation of Plongez dans le Cosmos [Dive into the Cosmos], a photography exhibition installed at the bottom of swimming pools, led to a desire to go further and develop cultural actions and a festival, NightScapades, based on the theme of nighttime. Created in late 2016, the association Chasseurs de Nuits supports renowned European and international projects that invite travel and the discovery of starry nocturnal skies.  ... Rund ums Werk

he association Chasseurs de Nuits is celebrating 50 years since the Moon landing with this image from the Apollo 17 mission produced by NASA. Taken on 7 December 1972, it features American astronaut Eugene A. Cernan. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 82 and was the eleventh walker on the Moon, remaining, to date, the last man to have set foot on its surface. Initially co-pilot aboard the lunar module of the Apollo 10 mission that performed a rehearsal of the Mon landing by approaching to within 14 km of its surface. Finally, he commanded the Apollo 17 mission, the last mission of the Apollo programme. During this mission, along with his crewmate Harrison H. Schmitt he undertook three extra-vehicular excursions, for a total duration of 22 hours in the Taurus-Littrow Valley. The two astronauts collected over 100 kg of lunar rocks and covered 36 km aboard their vehicle, setting a new record in all these domains.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
