Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy: this is the remarkable artistic approach of Pedro Jarque, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at the Université de Paris La Sorbonne, the Peruvian photographer has won numerous distinctions throughout his prolific career and mainly thanks to his captivating wildlife portraits. Born in Lima, he has travelled to the heart of the Amazon since the age of ten, and specialised in landscape photography from the 1980s onwards. Subjects of fascination with a strong presence in his work, the wild animals that he photographs in natural reserves earned him multiple awards in 2016, such as the Sony World Photography Awards, the Prix de la Photo (PX3), the Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA), or the International Photography Awards (IPA).
