John Wright is a talented British photographer renowned for his portraits of the greatest stars of modern rock. The band U2, Lady Gaga, Paul McCartney, and Michael Jackson all belong to his body of work, as do his countless collaborations with prestigious magazines (Vanity Fair, GQ), with studios located between London, Paris, and Shanghai, and with luxury brands (Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Fendi). His photograph of singer Lily Allen posing with black panthers contributed to his international renown, enabling him to win magazine cover of the year in 2009. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, John Wright comes from a working-class milieu, and, despite his move to the flamboyant city of Los Angeles to work as a photographer, he has not forgotten his roots and affirms: What I do does not define me, just as where I grew up does not define me either.
