Clovis Lalanne is entirely self-taught. Although he didn’t attend a specific school, during his youth in West Africa, from Mali to Guinea and Senegal, he was a student of the “school of life”. Aged 25, he returned to France and became a freelance photographer. He has worked for various fashion and haute coiffure companies, including the LVMH group and the Saint Laurent brand. He also became the official photographer for the Parision make-up school Make Up For Ever. He assists students with their projects, in particular for the final evening where they are awarded their diplomas. The series presented here showcases the work of two of the school’s students. Clovis Lalanne also returns regularly to Africa, creating photo reports where human relations are the primary focus. A true jack of all trades, a few years ago he turned his hand to video production with the company Waraden Productions.
