Great fans of Asia, the photographers never tire of exploring the natural treasures found on the continent. Their favourite countries remain Nepal, where Bruno Morandi speaks the language, and Mongolia, where Tuul is from and where she likes to roam across the immense steppe. The reports that they produce are not however only invitations to travel, they also encourage us to meditate on the fragile beauty of our environment, whether it be human, natural, or cultural. Colour dominates and the artists take great pride in using it as a vital element of their images. Specialists of the vast Mongolian territory, here, they provide us with a magnificent image of it. Expanses of ice stretching as far as the Gobi desert, governed by nomadic tribes, Tuul and Bruno Morandi followed in the footsteps of the massive nomadic cavalry of Genghis Khan in the 13th century, which razed but also federated past nations. In this image, a berkutchi (falconer) practices eagle hunting. There are only a few hundred Kazakhs left who have fled to the province of Bayan-Ölgii in Mongolia.

Tuul and Bruno Morandi have wandered the world for years now. One was born on the steppes, the other at the seaside. Despite the 10,000 kilometres that separated the two photographers, they met and have shared their lives and passions for the past twenty years. Tuul, an only child who grew up on the Mongolian steppes, came to Paris for her studies. After earning a master’s degree in the field of culture, she discovered a passion for graphic art and photography. Finalist for the Grand Prix Photoreportage Etudiant by Paris-Match in 2005, Tuul entered the world of photography. Trained as an architect, Bruno spent every summer as a child in his father’s homeland of Tuscany. We can imagine how those hilly landscapes bathed in light that comes directly from the artist’s palette might have influenced his way of seeing the world as well as his thirst for travel. At the age of 18, he traveled to the Himalayas and there discovered his passion for photography. Since their first meeting, the two photographers crisscross the world with rigor and passion searching for fleeting instants to capture the grace and beauty of simple gestures. Photography is for these two a pretext for meditating on the fragile beauty of the environment, whether human, natural, or cultural. They are regularly published in the international press (National Geographic US, Figaro Magazine, Géo France and Germany...). Their photographs have been chosen by HSBC and BNP Paribas banks for their advertising campaigns and have also been the subject of dozens of works including Népal, couleur et lumière (2001), Toscane Éternelle (2002), Tableaux du Rajasthan (2003), and La Mongolie de Gengis Khan (2017).  ... Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

Ruslan Bolgov was born in 1974 in Klaipeda, Lithuania, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. His earliest photographs were taken as a teenager, but he didn’t take the experience very far at the time. It wasn’t until the end of his studies in economics and finance that he seriously app...

“The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
