L'artista

Born in southwest France, Oliver Lavielle is a photographer in love with the period from the 1940s to 1970s. His world is tinged with jazz, swing, blues, rock’n ‘roll and a pinch of disco. Unmoved by the contemporary aesthetic, his subjects are mostly expressed in black and white or a period-style colorimetry that his subjects best express. The photographer is fond of representing the atmospheres that he would’ve liked to experience for himself. Passionate about cinema, these compositions are dynamic and inspired by Hollywood stagings. It is in Asia and the United States that this insatiable globetrotter finds his inspiration. A pilot as a hobby, his photos of aircraft intimately portray the special relationship that he maintains with his \\\"toys\\\" as he likes to call them. Entering his world means travelling through time and since Olivier is also a steward for a French airline, a single phrase could sum up his work nicely: “Welcome aboard!”  ... “My joy as a photographer is showcasing the heroism of aviation. Remembering that humanity is an explorative force! The sea and the air, challenging oneself, adventure... in a word, humanity.”

OLIVIER LAVIELLE

Sull'opera

When he was a teenager, Olivier Lavielle travelled along the legendary Route 66 with his parents. This cinephile came back from his road trip with a head brimming with images. In 1926, it was the first transcontinental road to be paved in the United States. While Route 66 no longer officially exists, since 1985, it remains mythical in the collective imagination. Even today, Olivier Lavielle follows the path of all those who have headed westwards. All along the route, in the service stations, or abandoned on the verges, he stops to take photographs of mythical automobiles with gleaming chrome bodywork: testaments to an amazing era. Corvettes and Buicks remain the eternal symbols of cutting-edge America. These vehicles seem to epitomise the American dream, featuring modern chargers ready to conquer new territories.
