L'artista

Born respectively in 1954 and 1958, photographers Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain met while working for Paris Match. They soon became inseparable, signing their photos together and they still work together today. Specialising in celebrities, they are experts in the hideouts and tracking of celebrities, with, for instance, among their ‘hunting trophies’ the first photo published of President François Mitterrand in the company of his natural daughter, Mazarine. In 1986, they created their own press agency, Sphinx, but soon grew tired of the managerial role and its accompanying paperwork and preferred to return to the field. In 1988, they read an article in Le Monde about a study dedicated to the analysis of trash cans for understanding social behaviour. That gave them the idea of doing the same thing with the trash cans of French then international stars. This project, entitled TRASH, was to tour the world and was even presented at the Milan Universal Expo in 2015. It continues to this day and has branched into anonymous trash cans all over the world, delivering an edifying testimony to consumerist society.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

In 1988, Bruno Mouron and Pascal Rostain, photographers at Paris Match, discovered the study of a sociologist who demonstrated that waste reflects people’s lives. “Celebrity” experts, they decided to apply this principle to a population that they know well: stars. These highly revealing waste items were later sorted and arranged: “All these objects must be considered like a palette,” explains Pascal Rostain, “when all of that has been composed, it forms a work completely outside of what you could imagine.”
