Sull'opera

America resonates like a promise, an invitation, or a fantasy for the photographer. When he was a teenager, Olivier Lavielle travelled along Route 66 with his parents, which today no longer officially exists, but that remains legendary within the collective imaginary. This cinephile came back from his road trip with his head full of images. Even now, he continues to follow the path of all those who have headed out West, stopping to capture cars that remain the living testaments of a wonderful era. As an aesthete of the past, Olivier Lavielle only photographs old models that have become collector's pieces and highlights the perfect aerodynamics of their delicately aggressive mechanics. With the series Americana he seeks the perfect moment between a scorching afternoon and a balmy summer's evening. A sumptuous array of colours is revealed, between the unrivalled blue of a Californian sky, the red of ancestral sand on the border of Utah and Arizona, or the peaceful green of a royal palm tree or Saguaro cactus.

L'artista

Born in southwest France, Oliver Lavielle is a photographer in love with the period from the 1940s to 1970s. His world is tinged with jazz, swing, blues, rock’n ‘roll and a pinch of disco. The photographer is fond of representing the atmospheres that he would’ve liked to experience for himself. Passionate about cinema, these compositions are dynamic and inspired by Hollywood stagings. It is in Asia and the United States that this insatiable globetrotter finds his inspiration. A pilot as a hobby, his photos of aircraft intimately portray the special relationship that he maintains with his \\\"toys\\\" as he likes to call them. Entering his world means travelling through time and since Olivier is also a steward for a French airline, a single phrase could sum up his work nicely: “Welcome aboard!”  ... “My joy as a photographer is showcasing the heroism of aviation. Remembering that humanity is an explorative force! The sea and the air, challenging oneself, adventure... in a word, humanity.”
