Born in Germany, Klaus Tiedge was an important figure in advertising photography for over 20 years. His work led him to travel the world – from India, to Japan, Brazil, and the United States – but it was South Africa that stole his heart and he decided to move there permanently. To practise his profession of photographer, in 2001 he settled in Cape Town, a vast multicultural city located at the tip of the country and that has been reinventing itself since the end of apartheid. Klaus Tiedge decided in 2008 to dedicate himself exclusively to art photography and focuses his work entirely on the African continent, which he appreciates for its rich cultural diversity and authenticity. In addition to his impressive images of wildlife, he has attracted attention for his sensitive series of portraits of the Himba and Zemba peoples in Namibia, but also through his collection of majestic baobabs. “My interest in Africa has not diminished over time.
