De kunstenaar

Driven by values of cultural cooperation and exchange in connection with the scientific field, the association Chasseurs de Nuits presents the nighttime through various media, notably including photography. In 2014, Franck Séguin, director of the association and former editor-in-chief of the Ciel & Espace magazine, created the Photo Nightscape Awards (PNA), an international photography prize for nocturnal landscapes, exhibited each year in France. The creation of Plongez dans le Cosmos [Dive into the Cosmos], a photography exhibition installed at the bottom of swimming pools, led to a desire to go further and develop cultural actions and a festival, NightScapades, based on the theme of nighttime. Created in late 2016, the association Chasseurs de Nuits supports renowned European and international projects that invite travel and the discovery of starry nocturnal skies.  ... Over het werk

Taken between November 2009 and February 2011, this picture of the hidden side of the moon was shot with the American Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) probe belonging to NASA and in orbit around the moon since the month of June 2009. Flying over the Moon’s surface at an altitude of around 50 km it is responsible for creating its high-resolution mapping and studying the polar regions. The primary objective is to identify future landing sites, but it has also made numerous geological discoveries, such as a hole on the hidden side as well as a bridge, to cite only the most spectacular of its discoveries. The second objective of the mission is to discover any potential ice reserves at the base of the craters that are dotted over the lunar poles. In order to create this image, the orbiter is endowed with two cameras. The WAC (Wide Angle Camera) provides resolution from around 100 metres while the NAC (Narrow Angle Camera) can capture details from half a metre away. These cameras enable spectacular images of the surface to be created, allowing us to discover new landscapes.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
