L'artista

Born in Paris in 1987, Nicolas Jacquet has been fascinated by visual art since its young age. He felt that the city's vibrancy was strong enough to be seen as a giant artwork. Through photography, Nicolas is trying is best to express his vision of this city, rich in colors and lights. Sull'opera

Nicolas Jacquet visited the streets of Wan Chai, located on the island of Hong Kong. It is historically one of the most developed and commercial districts in the city. It contains many old and modern buildings tightly packed together, which a multitude of vehicles and pedestrians parade around every day. This part of the city has undergone numerous reconstructions throughout the ages, but several streets still preserve their old atmosphere. Taken from the traditional open-air market of Wan Chai, this photograph reveals a particularly warm and animated atmosphere in the foreground, contrasting with the visibly colder and imposing skyscrapers in the background. Appreciating the highly contrasted atmosphere of Hong Kong, which combines both business districts and more working-class neighbourhoods, the photographer reveals the city's stunning organisation, but also the lights and colours that this port metropolis is so well known for.
