L'artista

Born in 1973 in Sauerland, the artist Jörg Dickmann moved to Munich in the south of Germany. A self-taught photographer, he became interested in the subject from childhood, learning from his father’s example, who was inseparable from his SLR. In the early days, he took polaroid snapshots during his holidays, for fun and with no particular ambition. His talent for shooting and digital post-production treatment developed in the late 1990s. Armed with a digital reflex, he started to broadcast his images on social networks; these were later published in various German magazines (Foto Praxis, Focus or ELLE City). Jörg Dickmann’s favourite themes are urban landscapes, street scenes, architecture, and the energy of light. A keen globetrotter, he mainly produces shots with long exposure, focusing on the chromatic wealth of cities once night has fallen.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

Sull'opera

Michel Gantner reappropriates plant forms and colours, removing them from their initial environment in order to obtain a new subjectivity. He thus succeeds in conferring a surprisingly sensual quality to the flowers that he photographs. In order to be able to work in a simple and systematic way and compose his images without having to worry about his lens or how his subject is lit, the photographer limits his field of action to a ?light box? without any other form of frontal exposure. The plants are sufficiently translucent for the light to infiltrate their contours.<cr/><cr/>?My references are the black and white photographs of Karl Blossfeldt and their botanical rarity, coupled with great precision, the abundant bouquets of Edward Steichen, the modernity of Edward Weston's close-ups, the still lifes and panoramic landscapes of Josef Sudek, and the aesthetic quest of Robert Mapplethorpe.? PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...
