MAGGIORI INFORMAZIONI SULLA CONSEGNA

L'artista

Born in the mountainous regions of northeast Italy, photographer Gustav Willeit seems fascinated by vertiginous landscapes. While he is used to taking alpine panoramas, he nonetheless very quickly feels the need to explore other locations, travelling all over the globe in search of unusual images. From 2000 to 2004 he studied at the prestigious photography school F+F Schule für Kunst und Mediendesign in Zurich, then worked as a photographer's assistant before launching his freelance career in 2006. He has since participated in many solo and collective exhibitions in Europe. The power of his images is expressed through their inaccessible aspect, unusual points of view, and the intensity of the contrasts and chromatic nuances. When nature does not deploy its elements of its own accord, the artist uses digital techniques to recreate environments from his imagination, also inventing their titles. It is therefore difficult to make out reality from fantasy.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

GUSTAV WILLEIT

Sull'opera

At first glance, Gustav Willeit's landscapes reflect a majestic reality in which the beauty of the world is told by way of a perfect balance between humanity and nature. The images contain distant and surreal places that are difficult to identify, given the extent to which the details and colour contrasts appear mystifying and fantastical. It is by honing our gaze on each detail that we can understand the skilful play of perception that Gustav Willeit has created. The artist presents a parallel world invented from scratch, brilliantly reconciling illusion and reality. The carefully selected angles, unusual framing, and use of symmetry show isolated places revealing secrets that are invisible to the naked eye. By creating imaginary landscapes, he composes places where melancholy and solitude seem to be leitmotivs. Serving as visual witnesses, only the human figures and architecture are able to guide spectators in their observation.
