El artista

Richard Hirst is one of Australia’s leading landscape photographers. Known to many in Australia simply as ‘Hirsty’, Richard has spent many years photographing the magnificent scenery of Sydney with a particular focus on the wonderful pristine beaches and cityscape. His passion for photography started 30 years while at school shooting black and white and developing his images in a tiny homemade darkroom in the cellar of his parent’s house. I've traveled a lot around the world, but Sydney is a favorite subject for me because it's a beautiful mix of nature and artificial structures.

Sobre la obra

Attracting as well the numerous inhabitants of Sydney, the experimented surfers that the tourists in search of sun and azure water, the beach of Bondi Beach, located at the outskirts of the city, is one of the most famous in Australia. Extending over more than 1 kilometer, its "Bondi" name is an aboriginal meaning word of " the noise of the water breaking on rocks ". Richard Hirst, who knows neighborhood better than anybody, chooses to photograph it in height and so offers a new perspective of this paradisiac Pacific coast. The turquoise blue color of the ocean becomes intensified through the prism of its objective, the golden sand is illuminated. An atmosphere of happiness seizes quite naturally symbolic images of the Australian photographer who is one of the best of the over the landscapes photography.
