El artista

The photographs by Italian Oliviero Toscani continue to spark debates and polemics. Born in 1942, he is the son of the first photojournalist of the Milanese daily paper Corriere Della Sera. After graduating in Zurich in 1965, he worked with prestigious luxury brands and his shots featured in illustrious international publications (Elle, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Uomo Vogue). His collaboration with United Colors of Benneton from 1982 to 2000 made him an internationally renowned artist. Oliviero Toscanis’ work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, the Triennale di Milano, and the modern art museums of Mexico City, Helsinki, Rome, Lausanne, Frankfurt and São Paulo. The obtention of four Golden Lions at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity did not wane his determination to be firmly anchored in the register of provocation.  ... OLIVIERO TOSCANI

Sobre la obra

?Creativity must always be subversive?. This is the message conveyed by Oliviero Toscani?s photography. Beyond disrupting the norms of fashion photography, the artist?s subversive works express his desire to denounce the greatest blights of our age: homophobia, racism, religion, the death penalty, or anorexia.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
