Born in 1982 in Bucharest, Mina Teslaru is a self-taught Romanian photographer based in New York. Her childhood was steeped in the theatre, alongside talented actors, outrageous accessories and dusty old costumes. Her summers in Romania were punctuated by strolls along the banks of the Black Sea, with a plastic camera in hand. It was upon her arrival in New York in 2007 at the age of 24 that she fell under the charm of Coney Island, the main subject of her images. Many publications now pay tribute to her artistic work, which is not limited solely to the photographic medium; Mina Teslaru also produces light installations. Since 2010, she has participated in collective exhibitions in the states of New York and California. Her dreamlike images have only very recently been discovered in Europe, since Le Bon Marché in Paris dedicated an exhibition to her in 2015.
