De kunstenaar

Peggy Mella is a French-Italian photographer. After a modelling career that gave her a taste for travel and encounters that honed her artistic eye, she decided to return to her studies in 2013. For three years, she trained at a photography school in Paris (EFET) then took off for New York to follow photo and graphic design classes at the prestigious NYU, in Greenwich Village. She has crafted her world of images and compositions for over 15 years, creating a modern and free portfolio. Winner of the Paris/Miami Art Fair in 2015, her work is represented by many American (Miami, New York) and French galleries (Paris). It has been exhibited all over the world, notably at Art Basel in 2014, the Maison des Artistes d’Antibes in 2015, and in the Wynwood neighbourhood of Miami the same year.  ... Over het werk

Peggy Mella floats, navigates, travels, and helps spectators explore a world made of Fragments, the title of her recent series of aerial photographs. Based on enlargement, colouration, and destructuring of images, her artistic technique gives rise to an abstract and stylised body of work. She immerses us in a new world, that of the terrace of the apartment in which she has lived for more than five years. Comprising four panels, Red Pool was taken in 2014 at the Mondrian South Beach Hotel in Miami. Located on the magnificent seafront of Biscayne Bay, the hotel was designed by Dutch architect Marcel Wanders. Its quirky and visionary stryle is a tribute to the castle in Sleeping Beauty. In this shot, people are sunbathing beside the hotel’s legendary pool. The style is somewhat reminiscent of Slim Aarons and his photographs of the American jet set of the 1950s to 1970s.

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...

THIBAUD POIRIER

Born to expatriate parents, Thibaud Poirier spent his childhood in many cities around the globe, but out of Houston, Montreal, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo, it was the latter that has influenced him the most: “I discovered architecture there, in particular by Tadao Ando, and it became...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...
