Behind the pseudonym PolarBear lies an artist born in 1979 in Bordeaux. He chose street art as his mode of expression, using a multilayer stencil to cover walls with art in large cities such as Paris, London, Berlin, and Amsterdam. He endeavours to create works that have meaning and are poetic. His artist’s name PolarBear was not chosen at random. A committed animal rights activist since childhood, in 2018 he launched the project Don’t Make Us History, where the slogan is written in stencil above a polar bear, gorilla, or swarm of bees. The project takes various forms in several different countries. He usually works with silhouettes of women and children, in black and white, with just a touch of colour to attract attention. His stencil Art is Life, which draws a little girl in pigtails, was one of his first works and has travelled around the world. Today he is one of street art’s major figures.
