Sull'opera

The Greek photographer George Digalakis tends to reduce the ambient complexities and invites the spectator to escape reality in order to rediscover our emotions and feelings. In this series, the use of black and white allows him to focus on shapes, lines, and shadows, the lengthened exposure time thus introducing a notion of time throughout his compositions. Superfluous details are eliminated in favour of the photo’s main subject: melancholy.

L'artista

In 1974, George Digalakis received a “Nettar” as a present from his father. From that day forward, the camera has followed him everywhere he goes. However, being a doctor by trade, he had to wait until the year 2009 to find the free time necessary to seriously study the inner workings of photography. He took an online course and quickly became an accomplished photographer. Photography thus offered him the escape he had been looking for in order to express all of his creativity. Born in a country that has nearly 6 000 islands, George Digalakis maintains a special relationship with the sea. In each of his works, the sea occupies the role of the canvas on which his many subjects come to life. Through his shots, the Greek photographer does not seek to tell stories but rather to convey emotions, in particular that of melancholy.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

“The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
