The artist

Esteban Toro Martinez lives in Bogota, his home city, but he is not often there. This Colombian photographer spends most of his time travelling and taking photographs of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. It was on the advice of his first love that he decided to take a photography course. And it was the right thing to do: from his very first practical experience, he knew it would become his profession. He then studied visual arts at university in Bogota and took part in “every class, workshop, and event connected to photography”. He gradually discovered the work of photographers such as Steve McCurry, Jean-Paul Bourdier, and Sebastiao Salgado who were to have a profound influence on him. He has travelled to over 40 countries across the globe and is one of the world’s most notable landscape photographers. Being keen to share his knowledge and passion, he teaches at a photography school in Bogota and regularly organises workshops with photography lovers from all over the world. “Photography is an excuse to live and to get to know people, places, and fascinating stories,” he says.  ... About the artwork

Over the last few years, Colombian photographer Esteban Toro Martinez has travelled the world searching for the most beautiful landscapes and for shared human experiences. He has visited more than 40 countries, particularly in Asia: “These photos were taken during my travels in three different countries; India, China, and Vietnam,” he specifies, “but ultimately, no matter where they were taken, it’s our planet Earth that interests me.”

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...
