After graduating from the Beaux-Arts de Mulhouse and the École des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg, Michel Gantner chose to apply his artistic knowledge to the photographic medium. Working as an artistic director for a major advertising agency, he decided to leave in 1998 and devote himself exclusively to photography. He then developed a personal artistic practice based on the theme of plant life, with the aim of producing stylised creations, rather than purely figurative photography. His photos are regularly published in the press and have garnered international success, particularly in Japan. A book entitled “Végétal†[Plant], entirely dedicated to Michel Gantner's work on flora was published in 2010 by Flammarion. Many brands now appeal to his sensibility and taste for natural forms in order to illustrate their advertising campaigns. Some prestigious examples can be cited, such as Nina Ricci, Kenzo, Cartier, Hermès, Darphin, Viktor & Rolf, Annayaké, Air France, and many others.
