De kunstenaar

German photographer Bob Jackson was born in 1976 in Lindau. An accomplished artist, he graduated from the prestigious Schule Für Gestaltung in Ravensburg, where he studied design and visual communication. The artist transformed his passion for images into his trade. Now based in Munich, since 2014, he has undertaken regular return trips between the two cities to provide classes as a photography lecturer specialising in architecture. Bob Jackson is attracted to public spaces devoid of people, whether these are drained swimming pools, deserted movie theatres or stadiums lost under thick snow. What he likes is the calm after the storm: the impression of silence and fulfilment, when all these usually bustling places close their doors. He has already collaborated with several publications, notably Spiegel Online, El Pais and the design magazines Novum and Rum, to name but a few.  ... Lees verder Less minder

Over het werk

Australia, Thailand, Croatia, Sweden, Finland, United States... Bob Jackson is the kind of photographer that cannot stop travelling from one end of the world to the other and jumps on a plane from one day to the next in search of the ideal site. This series was taken at the Olympic stadium in Munich, Germany. The artist focuses on spaces that are generally noisy and that change their identity once the people have gone. He therefore wanted to go to this sports ground once all the spectators had left. The purity of the snow overruns the stadium, creating simple, minimalist forms. Under the photographer's lens, it thus becomes very stylised and the lines build up frameworks for reading the image. Bob Jackson thus sharpens our gaze by seeking to reveal to us the very essence of the places that he explores, from one end of the globe to the other.

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...

THIBAUD POIRIER

Born to expatriate parents, Thibaud Poirier spent his childhood in many cities around the globe, but out of Houston, Montreal, Buenos Aires, and Tokyo, it was the latter that has influenced him the most: “I discovered architecture there, in particular by Tadao Ando, and it became...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...
