De kunstenaar

Born in Normandy, Jonathan Pasqué is a photographer fascinated by remote countries and threatened populations. He explains the choice of his destinations with an approach contrary to that of a tourist, favouring remote lands that are hard to access, or even those with a bad reputation. His love of travel and encounters, gazes that speak volumes about the soul, oriented him towards portraiture from his early days of photography, when he was still a graphic design student in Paris. Since then, Jonathan Pasqué has roamed the farthest reaches of the world at the slightest opportunity, in order to capture images of immeasurable cultural and human wealth. Laos, Cambodia, Guatemala, Belize, North India, Ladakh, Iraq, Iran, North Korea... He has visited over 50 countries, in search of the most attractive aspects of humanity, in order to preserve memories, through the prism of his lens, like indelible imprints on paper. “The eyes are the mirrors of the soul. It isn’t landscape that allows you to understand a country, it’s the discussions, the encounters, and gazes also speak volumes.”  ... Lees verder Less minder

JONATHAN PASQUE

Over het werk

“We’re never indifferent when presented with a nude. Sculpture, etching, painting, photography, irrespective of the form, the nude attracts the eye. Surely because humans are sexual beings. But how can we innovate with this ancient art form? Precisely by giving it the air of the times, propelling it into the era of drones!” explains Jonathan Pasqué in presenting this photograph, which is as atypical as it is aesthetically pleasing, of a young woman in a poppy field. Jonathan Pasqué’s characters captured from the sky are staged in varied landscapes and showcase all the beauty and diversity of our planet. The nudity of the bodies echoes the fragility of our environment. His artistic approach is reminiscent of the aerial nudes by New Zealand photographer John Crawford taken in urban and natural contexts, or by the masterful compositions by the American Spencer Tunick, featuring hundreds of volunteers, male and female, posing naked in the biggest capitals in the world.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
