De kunstenaar

Born in 1964 near Belfast, Ireland, Simon Burch was introduced to art by his father, a landscape painter. “We had impromptu days off school, regular visits from artist friends, the excitement of exhibition openings,” he says, “and I soon realized that I wanted to have a creative life.” After studying architecture and living for a few years as a painter, Simon Burch bought himself a camera. Photography was then to become his mode of artistic expression as well as his profession. As an assistant to a photographer in London, he began learning this new art form, before going on to set up his own studio in Dublin in 1994. He studied and obtained a Master of Fine Arts in photography. Over the past twenty-five years he has switched between professional work for companies and his own, more personal projects, such as his photos of Mont Blanc. His work has been recognised internationally; he has won two EPICA Awards and a silver medal at the Association of Photographers Awards in 2004. This recognition is not due to chance: “I have always believed that if you work hard and give your best,” he says, “then good things happen.”  ... Lees verder Less minder

This 40 year old photographer is an architect by profession. There are signs of this in his work as it is first of all a reflection on contemporary cities and more specifically about the proliferation of modern urban space. Laurent Dequick's purpose is to accurately convey an imp...
