De kunstenaar

At just 30 years old, Frenchman Nicolas Guérin passed from the world of cinema to that of photography. This reconversion nonetheless did not prevent him from continuing to rub shoulders with the stars of the 7th art throughout his career. A self-taught photographer, he notably began in 2000 by offering his services to the cinema magazine Positif, a collaboration that continues today. Just two years after starting out as a professional photographer, he has shown his photographs all over the world, from the Palais des Festivals de Cannes to the Yokohama Cinema Festival to the Institut Lumière de Lyon, and also published a book, 100 cinéastes d'aujourd'hui [100 Contemporary Filmmakers]. When he is not creating portraits, he is also a fashion photographer and works with international press to produce the covers of The Guardian, Time Magazine, GQ, Le Nouvel Observateur or Télérama. He dedicates the rest of his spare time to producing nude female portraits captured with his Polaroid in his studio in the north of Paris.  ... Lees verder Less minder

Over het werk

Nicolas Guérin devotes himself today as much to fashion and advertising as to portraits of personalities. He also has a passion for female nudes. He covers all facets of photography, combining various photographic techniques on a daily basis, passing from one subject to the other with brio. When he is not fulfilling commissions for fashion magazines in an artistic vocabulary similar to that of Araki, the photographer?s style reflects that of the world of cinema. Many of his images of directors in black and white are emblematic and notably those of Americans Clint Eastwood, Tim Burton or Quentin Tarantino. Whether producers or actors, Nicolas Guérin seems to have photographed the whole film world, as his portfolio is extremely complete. Influenced by the work of Helmut Newton or Peter Lindbergh, he follows in the footsteps of his masters, continuing to inspire awe with each new discovery.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
