De kunstenaar

Born in 1973 in Vannes in the Morbihan region, and pursuing a brilliant legal career between Nantes and Paris, Nolwenn Hadet rarely leaves her native Brittany, except when undertaking exceptional expeditions to satisfy her immense passion for photography. She took her first pictures at a very young age and was given an analogue camera at the age of 7. Her Agfamatic was her loyal travelling companion, following her everywhere and testifying to her technical mastery over time. Nolwenn Hadet's images are irrevocably linked to her travels, to the landscapes she explores, to the people she meets, and the animals she comes across in the remotest regions of the world. From the vast plains of Botswana in Southern Africa to the frozen surfaces of Arctic ice floes, the planet is well and truly her playground.  ... Lees verder Less minder

Over het werk

Attracted by the great virgin spaces and the most well preserved regions of the world, photographer Nolwenn Hadet fell under the spell of the Arctic several years ago. She brings a sensitive and poetic gaze to bear on this environment and the animals that live there. While producing such images is extremely dangerous, her pictures are full of gentle serenity, revealing a sublime world to us. Preparing her expeditions sometimes two years in advance, the photographer must be accompanied by a guide in order to approach the bears as closely as possible and in the safest conditions. It is also important to take into account the desirable periods for viewing them, in summer in Spitsbergen, between September and October in the north of Alaska, and in February in order to spot the cubs as they leave their den. Nolwenn Hadet offers us her tender and playful view of polar bears, the primary victims of the melting of the ice due to climate change and thus a species facing a very real threat of extinction.

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...
