Richard Hirst is one of the greatest photographers of Australian landscapes. He is mainly interested in the pristine beaches and urban landscapes around Sydney, a city to which he has remained loyal, and for which he has professed his true admiration for over 30 years. His passion for photography began when he was just 16 and spent the better part of his days capturing black and whites of the beautiful Australian metropolis before developing them in a dark room installed in his parents’ basement. A self-taught photographer, he thus owes his talent to the experience he acquired over the years and to his many encounters with other renowned artists in the country. Waking each morning before dawn to capture the city in a new light and from a different angle, his collection of images paints an intense portrait of the megalopolis. With the advent of social networks and digital photography, Richard Hirst has now acquired a wonderful reputation on the internet.
