L'artista

Born in 1976 in Kitakyushu, in the Fukuoka prefecture, Japan, Ippei Ishihara began his career as a professional photographer in 2005, joining one of the most famous Japanese photography studies, Hue Inc. Now living in Tokyo, he has worked in advertising for ten years, mainly for the food industry. In 2015, he represented his country at the Japanese pavilion of Expo Milano, exhibiting images of culinary specialities for a “futuristic restaurant”. Ippei Ishihara has worked with the biggest international brands, including Amazon, Apple, Coca-Cola, Godiva, Le Creuset, McDonald's, and Pernod Ricard. Alongside his commercial assignments, he develops personal work and notably rose to prominence with his series Untitled, begun in 2014. A year later, his first exhibition, Loop / Utsutori was held in Tokyo and bodes well for a promising career for the young photographer.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

Sull'opera

Ippei Ishihara recently expanded his creative horizons by focusing on still life. A master of staging, he is developing a sensitive body of work around ephemeral beauty. Transience / Utsuroi #0.1 was created after the death of the artist's father and presents flowers in antique vases, all bathed in a soft light that floods the room. According to tradition, Japanese rooms contain a shoji , a dividing wall made of washi paper. The other walls are usually painted in a darker colour, like earthy brown or navy blue. When the exterior light shines through the shoji , it is thus broadly diffused. But, given the dark walls, it is instantly absorbed. The objects that the photographer uses blend into a timeless decor in this poetic composition. The life of antiques is long, while that of flowers or any living creature may be extinguished in a single moment.
