L'artista

While he’s been directing short films since his youth, in 1997 Étienne Perrone received a formal education in cinematography at the school of cinema and audio-visual media in Lyon. There he learned how to work with light and discovered photography. Etienne Perrone is constantly moving between the worlds of film and photography. He began in scriptwriting but photography got the upper hand when in 2016 he affirmed his true passion lies in capturing images rather than writing stories. The strong influence his years in film school had on him can be seen in his work, which retains a cinematic ambience and elements of cinematography. He’s still pursuing his career as a film editor for CAPA TV Press (Special Mission, Capital, TFI Report just to name a few) but his artistic talent is lauded at shows in Lyon and the United Arab Emirates.  ... Sull'opera

The wind blows. Dust swirls up and delicately floats down again. Leaves rustle. Then, there is nothing. Time passes indefinitely. This photograph gives a view of silence. But not just any silence. The kind that comes just after noise. A silence that resonates like a consequence or epilogue. His gentle and understated shots of America caught in its American dream immerse us in a slow and limitless world where humanity, an invisible presence, appears remote and confined, far from vast untamed territories. This photograph, in nostalgic hues, was taken along a stretch of Route 66 in the United States of America. The photographer likes to create strange atmospheres suspended in time, worthy of artists such as Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Gregory Crewdson, Formento & Formento, and Erwin Olaf. His interest in fiction drives him to find new perspectives, light and composition, flirting with cinematography.
