L'artista

Even though he graduated as an accountant, George Bufan only practised his profession for three years. He is, however, passionate about dance. As he attended dance meetings in his home country of Romania, he started taking photos: “I love seeing people dance and be happy,” he says, “it’s an activity that creates an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere.” From a simple hobby, photography quickly became an activity in its own right, and today is his profession. He is recognised as a specialist in dance photography (salsa, bachata, and kizomba), and carries out photo-reportage in Romania and abroad. After a request from one of his clients, he started taking photos from a drone and was bitten by the bug. He now takes his drone to each event he covers and while on the road captures photos of magnificent landscapes, like his series on the Fagaras Mountains: “I love nature, and thanks to my drone I am able to share the beauty of my country and discover the world and different cultures.” At 31 years of age, this young photographer has only just begun to inspire us.  ... Sull'opera

The Fagaras Mountains, situated in the southern Carpathians, are the highest and most famous mountains in Romania. They are crossed by the Transfagarasan Highway, a 90-kilometre road that culminates at more than 2,000 metres. Built in the 1970s by Nicolae Ceaușescu for strategic reasons, today it is considered to be one of the most beautiful roads in the world. The view of the mountains that Romanian photographer George Bufan presents to us, thanks to his use of drones, gives even more power to this majestic landscape.
