Sull'opera

Among all the subjects that he has photographed between Paris and New York, Ludwig Favres latest series paints a majestic portrait of Budapest, in Hungary. His images of architecture evoke the same romantic sensation as that of a Parisian photographing exotic landscapes. He showcases the prestige and monumentality of the Hungarian Parliament (Országház), a vast building inaugurated in the early twentieth century and located on the west bank of the Danube. Since 1902, it has been the home of Hungary's National Assembly. This building, whose volumes are organised around the central dome, has a neo-gothic façade but its floorplan follows baroque conventions. Capturing this site, strangely devoid of any human presence, Ludwig Favre adopts a frontal point of view and stresses the almost perfect symmetry of the architecture.

L'artista

Born in Senlis in 1976, Ludwig Favre now lives and works in Paris. Art history, multimedia and audiovisual studies, but also the transmission of a passion between a father and his son were the means that trained the photographer’s eye, sensitive to the reproduction of picturesque landscapes. Photographic practice allows Ludwig Favre to record “slices of life” that he likes to capture in a spontaneous way, on his many travels. Notably the ones produced between France and the United States, where he feels at home. In New York in particular, Ludwig Favre allows himself to be surprised by the stunning infrastructure of the city, which is like none other. Whenever he has the chance, he reveals a vision that is both dynamic and serene. Winner of the Geo Prize in 2015, his images have been shown in Paris, Sydney, Seoul, New York, and Los Angeles. They have also been used by the major brands Bauer Media Group, Visa Platinum, L’Oréal, and the US Open.  ... Vedi di più Vedere di meno

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

CLAUDE DEGOUTTE

“The wall belongs to the ‘retards’, ‘inept’, ‘rebels’, ‘simpletons’, to all those with a big heart. It is the blackboard of the school of life,” says French-Hungarian artist Brassaï in his famous back Graffiti. A veritable ode to urban art, Brassaï’s reflection was to mark the a...
