About the artwork

Like a fictional ' city of tomorrow ' in the future, Shanghai appears lightly calm and futuristic on a cold and sunny January morning in 2009. The Huangpu River passes in front of the third highest freestanding tower in the world, the ' Oriental Pearl Tower ', and flows through the city, emptying into the Yangtze River Delta. The colours of this otherwise pulsating and vibrant Chinese metropolis appear unobtrusive. They fade and almost vanish into thin air.
