The artist

Jens Vom Dorp was born in 1982 in Mönchengladbach, Germany, a city located very close to Düsseldorf where he now lives. His first photographic experiences date from his childhood thanks to the use of his father's non-digital reflex camera. At the age of 19, he affirmed his interest in photography and specialised in architectural photography in order to record the cities and landscapes he was exploring on his many travels. From 2002 to 2006, he worked as an independent photographer and engaged in the documentation of the construction of Borussa Park, the new football stadium of the football club of Mönchengladbach, which was how he made a name for himself. He became interested in German objective photography, an artistic movement initiated by Bernd and Hilla Becher, who taught some of the greatest contemporary artists, notably including Andreas Gursky. His large formats fascinate Jens Vom Dorp, owing to the extraordinary wealth of details they contain.  ... See more See less

About the artwork

«The facade, the blinds made from concrete, glass and fabric, also the life behind it. The life in industrialized living space and the option for the spectator to draw the 'curtain'. With that series 'Behind Glasscurtains' I want to open up a new perspective to the people.» JVD

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...

ALFREDO SANCHEZ

Alfredo Sanchez was not predestined for photography. Born in Mexico in 1954, he studied law and took up a career in the private sector. “My free time was spent playing tennis, horse riding, and let’s not forget my favourite pastime: photography,” he says. Much later, towards the ...

PEDRO JARQUE KREBS

Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at t...
