The artist

Jörg Dickmann was born in 1973 in Sauerland, Germany. He started taking photos as a child, his father always had his SLR camera with him, photography has therefore always been a part of his life. In the beginning he only took holiday snapshots, just for the fun of it, with no serious ambition. This changed when the possibilities of digital processing revolutionized photography. When he bought his first DSLR, he began to experiment. There was a huge improvement in the quality of his work and he began to take photography more and more seriously and professionally. After publishing his work on the web, he received a huge amount of positive feedback from professional photographers. His photos were published in several German magazines: Foto Praxis, Focus, ELLE City, Which motivated him to find his own photographic style. His work focuses mainly on urbanism, architecture and nightscapes. Jörg has always been self-taught and wants to show his own view of the world. He doesn't want to copy reality, he wants to create his own  ... See more See less

About the artwork

When he started out in Dusseldorf, Jorg Dickmann was initially interested in the work of influential artists, particularly the German objectivist movement initiated by the photographer couple Bernd and Hilla Becher. His unique style was affirmed on his many escapades across the globe. Focusing mainly on urban photography, he travelled to Sydney, which possesses an incredible palette of colours, for those able to tame it. In this image, the photographer distances himself from the traditional representation that we have of the Australian megalopolis, offering us a highly poetic vision. An emblematic landmark, the Opera is the high temple of representation of the arts, particularly the lyrical arts, with its unique architecture by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, which some of the locals call the yacht or the shell.
