Peperina Magenta is the pseudonym of an artist born in Argentina in 1987. Her early sources of inspiration came from her grandmother, both from the fabric that she collected and the fashion magazines she read. Peperina Magenta studied graphic design and graduated in 2014. During her studies she spent a year in Mexico, which was a real turning point: “That was when I took on my artist’s name," she says. “I was highly influenced by the vivid colours I came across in Mexican culture.” Once back in Argentina, she worked with visual artist Claudio Roncoli and began her own collages: “I love using images from the 1950s and 60s, blending them into paintings and using bright colours to create fresh and happy collages, inspired by pop art.” Among her sources of inspiration: the grotesque, an ancient art typical of paintings in the Vatican, which she studied while in Rome from 2014 to 2016.
