Born in 1960 in Algiers, Jeff Cabella is a self-taught photographer, although his parents introduced him to photography at a tender age. At 15, he devoted all of his savings to the purchase of his first reflex camera and embarked on a series of artistic experiments at the photo club he had joined. Ever since, his passion for images has never left him. Now based in Paris, Jeff Cabella documents his travels in colour and focuses on the essence of places, a situation, or an event that crops up along the way. He also practises street photography in black and white, capturing slices of life in an almost instinctive way, as he travels and as chance encounters occur around him. While they seem very different, his two artistic practices are linked by his considerable interest in his fellow humans.
