El artista

A French Instagrammer with a million subscribers, the photographer Vutheara Kham had never handled a camera before becoming the influential personality that he is today, thanks to the photos taken with his Smartphone. This Norman of Cambodian origins, born in 1982, recently moved to Paris after studying as a web designer. He discovered Instagram in 2011 and took his first photos in the Rue du Louvre "looking for poetic, romantic or weird moments" as he likes to say. After an exhibition in New York in 2011, he was invited by the Parisian gallery Daniel Templon within the framework of the Social Media Week to talk about iPhotography. A glowing review in the Nouvel Observateur allowed the éditions de La Martinière to spot him in 2014 and publish a book on his extensive travels. Mercedes-Benz, Michelin, Air France, Coca-Cola, Google Maps, Roger Vivier, Samsung or Sony are all brands he collaborates with.  ... Ver más Ver menos

Sobre la obra

Vutheara Kham is not backward about coming forward, not even with the imposing community following him on social networks and particularly on Instagram, the website that enables him to share his photographs with the general public. A fan of music and skateboarding, the young man photographs his daily life with rigour, freshness, humour and sometimes even eccentricity. Since the artist was rapidly crowned with success, the éditions de La Martinière suggested he publish PointOfVuth, a collection of 169 travel photographs. Iceland, Israel Istanbul, New York, the great European capitals... the Norman photographer has been travelling across the globe and notably, to Cambodia, on the trail of his family. Young Bonzes in Phnom Kulen, taken in 2014, thus belongs to this corpus of images taken in the moment and that express the emotion of the photographer and testify to his desire to liken this practice to contemporary art.

KODAK COLORAMA DISPLAY COLLECTION - PETER GALES

Launching this collection were giant images by Kodak, in the hall of Grand Central Station in New York, which the firm used at the time to proclaim its photographic omnipotence. Used as advertising tools in the legendary Manhattan train station from 1950 to 1990, the plastered im...

DAMIEN DUFRESNE

As Damien Dufresne says himself: "I let my hands do the talking". His approach is totally new in that it's at the crossroads of makeup, body art, artistic direction and photography. The resulting complexity, technicality and beauty are impressive. Damien Dufresne, a make-up arti...
